Just a physicist.

Eu achei esse texto meu, num email que eu enviei a um colega de trabalho. A conversa era sobre um email desses que sai ninguém sabe de onde, sobre como cientistas da NASA tinham calculado a falta de um dia na história do Universo, e a explicação para isso era que Deus havia parado o tempo em duas ocasiões distintas, e o email dizia as passagens e tal, super propaganda religiosa. Eu eu respondi, e aqui transcrevo uma parte desse email, sem a parte que trata dos cálculos gravitacionais, e em inglês, como escrevi no original. Eu costumo escrever em inglês, mas eu achei esse texto um dos melhores exemplos da minha redação, em português ou inglês.

I, for one, see the Bible as an allegory. The events in it have been modified so many times, all through the ascension of Christianity in Roman Europe, its fall, the collapse of Europe and the Middle Ages (Dark Ages), and because of the use of religion in political matters I no longer accept the facts in it as true. The only part of the Bible I believe in is the Genesis, the creation, for I do believe in God. Not ark-of-the-alliance God, or father-son-holy-spirit God, but the creation God, the force behind everything, and the idea that the Universe is good, or love, if I may.

Seeing past the deception that some people created centuries ago to fool other people is a matter of respect to me. Respect to myself, to my parents, and all the people that believe in God and don't want Him to be used as an excuse for nothing. There is no need for a scientific proof to God. We live the very proof, every day. In the light that turns the skies blue, in the wind that part the clouds, in our very heart beats.
